This is Griffin’s fourteenth year as a head coach in Georgia and eleventh as head coach at Walton High School. At Walton, he has gone to the Elite 8 five times, as well as the Final Four three times, and the State Championship twice. In 2019, Coach Spotz led the Raiders to a victorious State Championship beating Lambert, 8-7 in the State Title game. The Raiders finished the season ranked No. 1 in the state for all of GHSA Lacrosse, 1A-7A, with a 21-2 record. They also finished the season ranked No. 3 in the Southeast by Inside Lacrosse Under Armour rankings. Their record of 7-1 against other teams that finished the season ranked in the Top 10 in the state will stand as a testament to how successful their 2019 season was. Despite the 2020 season being cut short it was one of his favorite teams, having returned most of their talent from the state title game, it was certain to be an excellent season. The culminating 2022 season will be regarded as one of his most cherished lacrosse journeys, having coached most every player on that team since they were at U11 and U13 age groups in club lacrosse. Being able to take a second group of players to the state title game will always be a special memory, and one that he pursues every year for the rest of his career. Coach Spotz was awarded the NFHS Boys Lacrosse Coach of the Year for 2019 by the GHSA, and the County County of the Year three times. He loves coaching at Walton, where he finds a supportive community with everyone striving to make it a successful high school lacrosse experience.
